CASSA June Newsletter
The Board of Directors would like to extend our sincere appreciation to each of you for selecting CASSA as your home for soccer, we welcome you! You will be receiving a letter like this each month to keep you up to date on the happenings around our Club. Please make sure we have your current, most accurate, email address to contact you with. CASSA also uses Facebook and our website, http://www.cassasoccer.com, as forms of communication as well as mass emailing to all our CASSA families through Mail Chimp. The Board of Director’s are listed on our website and you may contact us with questions, comments and/or concerns. Please remember CASSA is run by volunteers, like you, which also means many of us have full-time jobs outside of CASSA so we try hard to get back with you in a timely manner.
Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA) is the league our CASSA teams play in. There are several rules and regulations we are governed by through GVSA up through the Federal International Football Association (FIFA). It’s important to note with the birth year changes which took place it will also changes the look of league play. Your patience is appreciated during the fall season as GVSA evaluates the best divisions each of their teams aligns best with. CASSA partners with GVSA to promote the RESPECT CAMPAIGN. Each coach, parent, and player signed code of conduct disclosure statement with CASSA when you decided to play for our Club. CASSA holds in high regard and seriously deals with any infringements. It is important all our players not only respect the game of soccer but the coaches and its officials, this starts with us as parents!
Team Camp runs Monday – Wednesday, August 1 -3. Coach Justin Harnden sent out an email to all the coach staff inviting your players to attend with specific details for each team. We highly recommend all CASSA Coach Staff attend these camps if at all possible. Make sure in this extremely hot weather your child has enough water to drink during camp. Also note candy bar money can be handed in at that time please make sure $60 is in the envelope, sealed with the player and coach name. We have CASSA wrist bands for $1 and window decals for $5!
We can officially start practices the week of August 8th! Dan Buchner will be working with our Coach Staff to secure practice times for the month of August. The week of August 15th AYSO runs their soccer camp and CASSA can only be on the fields in the evenings that week. FLEXIBILITY is the name of the game here as AYSO is finishing up their registration end of July and begin practicing after Labor Day; CASSA practice times may change come September. Amy Rau and Jason Bravata are working together to sort out those details between the Clubs.
Monday, August 8th, at 7:00pm at the Sports Plex, CASSA will hold a Coach Staff and Team Manager meeting. There will be a section on how to run a practice session by Coach Justin Harnden. Also, Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) is offering a USSF National “E” License course in Grand Haven August 27-28, 2016. You need to register on their website and CASSA will reimburse for half the cost upon completion of the course. Please contact Dan Buchner, our Coach Administrator, for more details. All head coaches will need this license after coaching for any GVSA club after one full year if they wish to continue as a head coach.
Thank you, Ryan Outwin
We would like to thank Ryan Outwin for his commitment and service to CASSA as our Coach Administrator! Ryan stepped down from the Board and will continue to focus on coaching our girls U13 team. The Board of Directors approved Dan Buchner as Ryan’s replacement and have temporarily suspended the position of Field Administrator since we sublease our fields from AYSO
