CASSA May Communications
Posted on Monday, May 30, 2016 7:49PM by Amy Rau
Although at times freezing cold, rain, snow, sleet and hail tried to ruin our spring soccer season, CASSA players, coaches and families prevailed! The Board really appreciated your flexibility due to inclimate weather. From the looks of all the team’s statistics in our GVSA League we all should be very proud of our players and coaches for their many accomplishments this season. We appreciate all our volunteers in all capacities who serve and help make CASSA a great soccer Club to be a part of.
Thank you Robin Shotko!
We would like to especially thank Robin Shotko for all her years of service to CASSA as she steps down from her Safety Coordinator Position. Her knowledge, dedication and kind heart made our Club a safer place to play soccer, she will be missed! In a previous communication letter to our families we let you know Kara Dault would be stepping down as well, as Board Secretary. We wish them both many future blessings. There are 2 open Board positions now waiting to be filled. June 14th the Board will be interviewing for those positions. If you are interested contact a Board Member!
Welcome our new Fundraiser Coordinator
The CASSA Board of Directors would like to welcome our new Fundraising Coordinator, Teri Marsman! Teri and her husband Chad have a daughter, Paige, who attends school at the CSMS and a son Luke, a first time CASSA player under Coaches Brandimore and Boyer. Teri comes to us with 6 years of fundraising experience and we look forward to working alongside of her in order to raise funds to keep our costs economical for our families. Her first responsibility will be coordinating the selling of WORLD’S FINEST CHOCOLATE BARS, more information to come!
2015/2016 Season Coach Evaluations
You should have received a survey through your email in regards to Coach Evaluations. It is of the utmost importance each family fills the form out and submits it to CASSA as soon as possible. Over the next couple of weeks the Board will be selecting new coaches for our 2016/17 soccer seasons and voting on them June 14th prior to tryouts. Submitting the Coach Evaluation form will help the Board in making the decisions we need to for our up and coming seasons. We have also begun working on an opinion survey for our families to fill out and return to the Board in regards to how we can best serve you and your kids as a Board. It is in the beginning stages as Mia Goeddeke our Team Manager Representative leads the way with this great idea.
We are excited to announce a new and improved 2016 Tryout Format! Come June 1, 2016 you will be able to go to the forms page on our website to find all the new forms you will need to fill out for your child to try-out for CASSA the week of June 20th, remember tryouts are FREE!!. It is very important if your child can not make their tryout session the appropriate paperwork is filled out and on file with CASSA. It is important to note no coaches in GVSA may ask players players to commit to teams until Wednesday, June 22nd. We have designated Friday, June 24th as a “call back” day if a coach needs to see a player a second time. You will be able to see a video demonstration on our website and Facebook. Justin Harnden, the Cedar Springs HS soccer players and Anthony Shaw put together for tryouts. Your child will see the new format and how to best practice for CASSA tryouts. Our Judges this year will be for the most part third party past and present soccer players, only head coaches will be allowed on the field with the Judges in order to take notes on players in their birth year. Your child will be evaluated on a whole new rubric/grading scale which is only seen by the Judges, Coach Staff and the Board (when needs be). If a child who tryouts does not make a CASSA team a coach will call and give them feedback on their performance and their next steps to help them make their goal of playing for CASSA one day.
Registration for all CASSA players who made a team during tryouts for the 2016/17 soccer seasons will be on Wednesday July 13th & Thursday the 14th from 6-8pm hopefully at The Sports Plex. There will be a fundraiser table set up with boxes of WORLDS FAMOUS CHOCLATE BARS for each family to sell; there will be exciting prizes for those who sell the most! It is not a new uniform year but those brand new to the Club will need to order a uniform kit from Team Gazelle. With the new “birth year” rule there may be a few players on teams with the same jersey number, the Board is preparing in advance for this, more information to come. ***ALL PLAYER FEES are due at the time of registration. You can find our fees on our website. If your child makes a CASSA Team and you need to make payment arrangements please contact our Treasurer, Renae Barr to set up a payment plan.*** Your child will not be able to play until they are either paid in full or have made payment arrangements with our Treasurer.
